Dear Doctor,
In the weeks since our last appointment I've been through my things over and over looking for your card. At first I took things one by one from the piles of clothing, books, papers, made new piles, the same. And then for a few days I focused on getting some sleep. Once I'd slept well I could see that if I just put each thing away as I looked around it or under it, sooner or later I would find the card.
Last night I found it - it wasn't under anything, it was sitting on my dresser. Blue, with the practice's phone number, the practice's email address, and your name. When you handed it to me you kept both hands on its edges and made eye contact.
I felt better once I'd found it, and worse, too.
